The Scotland Food & Drink Entrepreneur Award 2014 is an industry leading award for the top food and drink entrepreneurs (owner/manager of a business) in Scotland and is judged and sponsored by Johnston Carmichael. The judging for finalists recently took place in Edinburgh and took the form of a one to one meeting with the judging panel, at which nominees were asked to demonstrate how they had delivered against each of the following criteria:
- entrepreneurial focus
- innovation success
- strategic planning ability
- leadership
Alongside the above criteria it was critical that the business was also able to demonstrate strong business growth year on year, so detailed supporting year end accounts were also requested.
The 2014 award applications were particularly strong this year and included restaurants groups, bakery, dairy, beef producers, breweries, whisky promotion and seafood businesses from Inverness, Aberdeen and across the central belt.
The judging panel was chaired by Adam Hardie, business development partner and Head of Food and Drink at Johnston Carmichael with Geoff Bruce (Director Bruce Farms and Board member Scotland Food & Drink) and David Moore, (Director of Eastmoore and formerly Managing Director of Asia Beer for drinks giant Diageo.)
The entrepreneur award is the final award on the night at the Scottish Food and Drink Awards dinner on 22 May at the EICC, a sell out function with 800 attendees
